Interview with: Shawn Lawrence Otto - Screenwriter of HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG
"...The challenges lay as they always do in retelling what is essentially an internally told story, as most literary novels are, in a way that the same emotions and spiritual drives can be captured by a machine – the camera. ... For example, the novel starts out with Behrani on the road crew, and counterpunctal to that you have this wonderful first person narration. I needed to create that same feeling of this man’s pride without resorting to voiceover. So I decided to start in Behrani’s heart [Go to Article]

About being an Actor, Producers, or Directors; touches on such topics as the nature of the work, employment, training, job outlook and so on starting with the following significant points: Actors endure long periods of unemployment, intense competition for roles, and frequent rejections in auditions. Formal training through a university or acting conservatory is typical; however, many actors, producers, and directors find work based on experience and talent alone. Because earnings for actors are erratic, many supplement their incomes by holding jobs in other fields.

Mime / Pantomine History

Modern European mime began in the early 1700's. It was probably started by Italian actors working in France. They could not speak French and developed ways of telling their stories without words. The best known European mime artist is Marcel Marceau. He has portrayed many different characters, but his most famous is called 'Bip'.
